All the Fun of the Fair: Highlights from Interclean 2024
Last week saw thousands of providers across the commercial cleaning landscape come together in Amsterdam for Interclean 2024, the industry’s largest trade show that takes place every 2 years. For those of us lucky enough to attend, it was amazing to see everyone turn up and show out, with an incredible range of innovation on display (in all of its wondrous and sometimes wacky flavours!) that truly reflected the ever-evolving landscape of the cleaning and hygiene industry.
At Infogrid, we were excited to exhibit alongside our friends and partners at SoftBank Robotics EMEA as we launched our brand new, completely reimagined cleaning technology solution, Smart Cleaning Pro, helping to bring to life Softbank’s Smart BX offering.
With so much to see – and by the end of the week, aching feet from many turns around the expo hall! – we’ve pulled together our top highlights and learnings from Interclean 2024.
Technology and Digitalisation
First and foremost, there was strong emphasis on the numerous ways advanced technologies are transforming the cleaning sector, from AI-supported cleaning robots and data-driven cleaning solutions to digital tools that improve efficiency and precision in cleaning tasks. As the sector matures, robotics continues to make huge advancements in terms of utility and affordability. The ability to automate menial tasks, save on labour and delivery, and ensure better cleaner outcomes can only be a good thing for the industry.
What particularly struck us was the huge breadth of cleaning robotics now on offer, with different categories that enable robots to be deployed into a broader range of building sizes and space types. Check out the new super-quiet Whiz, available via our partners at Softbank Robotics, the sleek and compact Nexaro NR 1500 vacuum, and the Karcher KIRA , which can now deliver nonstop autonomous cleaning thanks to exchangeable batteries.
Innovation: Not Just for Tech Companies
The industry continues to innovate, with Interclean exhibitors unveiling a huge range of exciting new products, including eco-friendly replenishables, tools, dispensers, and utensils. In fact, the overall winner of the Amsterdam Innovation Award went to LESSAU for their automated no-touch bar soap dispenser, a sleek and entirely contactless device that dispenses 100% vegan and microplastics-free bar soap. This caught the eye of jury members, who were impressed that technology and innovation can still improve simple and recognizable everyday ideas. LESSAU not only won the sustainability and environmental award but was also crowned the overall winner for 2024.
The Wild, Wonderful World of Cleaning
With over 900 exhibitors hailing from more than 120 countries and live demonstrations and knowledge sessions galore, Interclean presented an unparalleled opportunity to get a comprehensive view of the latest trends and innovations driving the cleaning industry forward. Most memorably, we loved getting to experience the sights and sounds of the exhibit hall. From very chic and novel ways of displaying products that ranged from rubber gloves to robots, to live DJ sets (we see you FilMop), to the absolutely essential energy-boosting free donuts, there were plenty of exciting opportunities to get inspired and foster new connections.
Final Thoughts
After an exhilarating week, we’re off to put our feet up and reflect on the highlights and learnings from Interclean 2024. From the colourful products and exhibits to the inspiring innovations on display, it was truly one for the books.
From everyone here at Infogrid, thanks for an amazing show. We’ll see you again in 2026!
